The College-Ready Promise | Overview

PUC partnered with three other high-performing Charter Management Organizations (CMOs) who share our deep commitment to college success for all students. We formed a consortium called The College-Ready Promise (TCRP) that includes PUC, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, Aspire Public Schools, and Green Dot Public Schools. These organizations currently serve more than 35,000 students in 89 public schools statewide. The schools serve primarily low-income and minority students in Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, East Palo Alto, Stockton, and Modesto. We have earned a reputation for excellence because more than 75 percent of our graduates over the past two years are attending four–year colleges, well above the average for the state.
We are proud of these results, but we must do more. Over the next several years, working closely with our teachers and principals, we will implement an innovative system to attract and retain highly effective teachers to work with our students, dramatically increasing the number of college–ready graduates.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation committed $365 million to fund deep work in teacher effectiveness in four Intensive Partnership Sites across the nation, including TCRP. This work is transforming how teachers are recruited, developed, rewarded, and retained.
